The apartment offers beautiful self-catering holiday accommodation comprising two bedrooms (one double and one twin), a bathroom and a large open-plan kitchen / dining / sitting room.
The apartmnt was created when we converted what was a large store room (previously the space where the Castle's coaches were housed) into a fully self-contained accommodation.
The apartment has a private garden seating area with access to a wild garden/woodland area offering views across the loch to Plockton. The woodland setting offers complete tranquillity when often bird-song is the only sound you can hear and on a clear night the Milky Way and millions of stars are easily seen.
At the front of the apartment, in the square's central courtyard, there is also a table and chairs offering an alternative, continental style, sitting area. The Square comprises five properties (all privately owned and occupied) so this is a really homely environment which is built around the courtyard from where the properties (including the Coach House) are accessed.
There is plenty of parking on site. Duncraig Square Coach House is a non-smoking apartment.

The apartment boasts a large open plan kitchen/sitting room with access to both the front courtyard and rear garden of the property. The bedrooms offer a comfortable environment for you to relax and sleep in after your days exploring this wonderful area.
Heating is provided by storage heaters in the main area and bathroom and by panel heaters in the bedrooms. With the insulation that was installed during the conversion process, there should not be much need for heating, though it is there for when things do get cold (as they sometimes do in the Scottish Highland winters!).
The sections below give more details about the accommodation in the apartment and there are more images of the apartment at the foot of this page.
The sitting room has a couple of large sofas giving plenty of room to curl up, read a book, surf the internet, watch TV or just quietly relax. Weather permitting you can open the back doors, listen to the birds in the garden and enjoy sitting on the large decking area (see the Garden paragraph for more about this) with access to a barbeque.
There is also a bookshelf with a good choice of books - some perhaps just for browsing (covering art, cooking, general information and others), some for finding out about the local area and some for just a good read. A collection of family board and card games are included to help provide some good get-together entertainment.
The kitchen offers a fully functioning home-from-home cooking environment with cooker, fridge (with small freezer compartment), washing machine, kettle, toaster, microwave and all the appropriate cupboard stuff (cutlery, crockery, glasses, utensils, pans, food mixer and so on).
The kitchen features a real wood beech worktop, oak cupboard doors and low-energy spotlights. It is a comfortable space to cook in and has all the necessary things for you to cook all your favourite holiday meals. Next to the kitchen, in the large open-plan room, the dining area has table that comfortably seats four people. See the tariffs page for details about a starter food box that we can provide for you on your arrival.
The double bedroom has a comfortable double bed with duvet, and is equipped with a wardrobe, large mirror, bedside tables and lamps. The window looks out onto the back garden where a wide range of garden birds can be seen flitting about.
The twin bedroom (with its window that looks out onto the courtyard) has two single beds. The room also has duvets, a wardrobe, mirror, bedside tables and lamps. Like all the rooms, the bedrooms doors are of ledge and brace construction with a traditional thumb latch.
Bed linen and towels are provided at no extra charge.
The bathroom features an old-style roll-top bath with an overhead shower as well as an Edwardian loo and basin. With two walls fully tiled and two in traditional painted wood V-groove this bathroom is a stylish and functional room.
There is a mirror and shelf for your toothbrushes, a shaver point, a first-aid kit with basic essentials and sets of towels.
Through the patio doors in the sitting room you can access the decking area which is for your sole use.
There is a brick barbeque, added after this photo was taken! Try barbequing the local butcher's venison sausages - they are excellent. Charcoal can be bought from Marine Stores in Kyle of Lochalsh.
Just beyond the decking is a brick pathway that leads up a small rise at the back of the garden to a raised area with a bench and view of the sea and Plockton - a great place where you can while away a few peaceful minutes or hours. Click here to see some photographs of the garden.
Whilst Duncraig Square Coach House is a pet free accommodation, we do have two cats in our own home - you might be lucky enough to meet them (if you wanted to) in the garden if they don't shy away.
We have tried to follow some simple ideas around being Eco-friendly whilst converting the apartment. We have also considered energy efficiency when the apartment is being use.

Between September 2011 and May 2012, Kevin and Helen Alexander converted the empty space that once was where the Castle's coaches were housed into the fully self-contained holiday apartment it is now.

Due to continued improvements and/or maintenance, we may change the positioning of furniture and fittings from time to time, but be assured that even if the apartment does not look exactly like the photographs below, any differences will be minor and will not affect the facilities described above.
